Resolving conflict like cats and dogs

When I review conflict videos, I look at what didn’t work, and what works, and what might work better. In this case, I think the conflict resolved over time, as it should.

Instead of fighting like cats and dogs, they made friends like cats and dogs.

Dog: I’m new here. What’s that? An orange puppy? Let’s play!

Cat: Ugh. A bouncing white thing. Get away from me!

Dog: Let’s play like puppies!

Cat: Eww. It’s back. Get away from me!

Dog: Let’s play like puppies!

Cat: And it’s here again! Time to take the high ground to get some peace.

Dog: Let’s play like puppies!

Cat: Hmmm. He smells ok. Maybe I should get used to him.

Dog: Let’s play like puppies!

Cat: Can’t a cat get some peace?

Dog: Let’s play like puppies!

Cat: Hey, that’s my bed, weirdo!

Dog: Oooh, a tail. I like tails!

Cat: Get off my tail!

Dog: Let’s play like puppies!

Cat: He’s not giving up. I better find something to like about him. He smells OK…Ummm, he’s warm…

Oooh, lick me like that again! Now you’re playing like a kitten.

Dog: Let’s play like puppies! Finally, he likes this licking stuff! I guess he doesn’t like the bouncing around stuff.

Dog: Will you share your water?

Cat: No.

Cat: He bounced on my head and played with my tail. Does he like that? I’ll try it.

Dog: Hurray! Puppy play!

Cat: Let me show you cat play. We go up the wall…nevermind…

Cat: Want to join me in my tube. There’s room.

Dog and Cat: Snuggling, we got this down now!

Dog: me on top.

Cat: no, me on top.

Dog and Cat: hide and seek works, too.

Dog: I have fun chasing my tail. Want to try?

Cat: No, weirdo.

Dog: I’m the watchdog, want to help?

Cat: I like to watch, too.

Dog: I love you, you snuggle like a dog.

Cat: I love you, you snuggle like a cat.

Dog: You’re my kitten.

Cat: You’re my puppy.

Dog: You’re my cat

Cat: You’re my dog.

Have you a better narrative to explain this video? How does resolving conflict like cats and dogs apply to your family and friends, especially since this spring, when households are indoors so much more?
