Another do-it-yourselfer fail

In the course of house hunting, I could write a book called Don’t Do It Yourself Guide.

Here’s a condition I saw that is wrong in so many ways. Can you figure out what this do-it-yourself failure is supposed to be?

It starts here, with what looks like a water-bearing tube that is not running downhill.

 

 

 

 

 

It keeps going, dips and all, to the next room.

 

 

 

Now, you see it.

 

 

A crooked sump pump.

 

With no cover.

With no check valve.

With no French drain.
